About Us
David Weil founded Empire Evergreens in 2003 as an extension of his landscape contracting company and as a means of preserving the family farm. Despite adverse weather conditions, over 200,000 seedlings and transplants were in cultivation by the end of 2004. Presently, Empire Evergreens has 135 acres in production and features 13 varieties of conifers.
Empire Evergreens strives to produce dense, symmetrical Christmas trees and nursery stock at competitive prices. A comprehensive pest management program helps ensure that tree diseases are controlled in environmentally responsible and cost-effective ways. Late model, state-of-the-art equipment is utilized in tree production to minimize downtime and maximize worker productivity. Tree production is very weather sensitive and being able to react quickly to changing conditions and anticipate future problems has enabled Empire Evergreens to produce row after row of quality trees.
The current economic downturn has had an especially profound impact on the nursery industry. To address this latest challenge, Empire Evergreens has shifted it's reinvestment focus to the Christmas tree market. The farm has had great success in the cultivation of Balsam an Canaan Fir Christmas trees and is currently expanding it's selection of other "true firs" such as Concolor, Fraser, and Grand Fir. Empire Evergreens will also offer mail-order trees and wreaths for the 2011 holiday season and future growth in the premium Christmas tree market looks very encouraging.
